The storms also caused some flooding around the city, shutting down parts of at least eleven roads around the city: Cave Lane; Contour Drive; Ira Lee; Mission Parkway; O’Connor Road; Old Corpus Christi; Sleepy Hollow Street; Schertz Road; Southwell; Hausman; Vance Jackson at Orsinger.
The National Weather Service predicts thunderstorms and showers are likely throughout the week with major thunderstorms expected Wednesday. There is between a 40 and 60 percent chance of rain for the San Antonio area through Friday.
San Antonio Fire Department crews also performed a water rescue to save a woman who was stuck in a flooding drainage ditch near the 3400 block of Fredricksberg. SAFD spokesman Woody Woodward said the woman, and crews are still searching the area for a possible second person.
He did not say how the woman ended up in the drainage ditch, but said it appeared that she got caught in swift moving water.
